October Beauty Favorites

Can you believe we’re already in NOVEMBER! Time is going by sooo fast this year, it’s really unbelievable. What is more, I’m already getting into the festive mood with all the stores having their Christmas decorations up and the weather is also getting colder every day. But before I can start thinking on all the things I’m planning to do in November and December for the holidays, I thought it would be nice to share with you some of my beauty products that I’ve bought in October mainly but that I’ve been loving ever since.

As I mentioned in my previous and first ever beauty post, the L’Oreal store in Maasmechelen Outlet Village has become my go-to store for beauty products, so not surprisingly that most of the products featured below are actually coming from this store. So let’s see what products made my October favorites list 🙂

Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Polish – 7 Days Tone on Tone

With autumn in full swing now, this color (# 879 Hot Hue) is perfect for finishing your outfit. In the bottle it looks very dark, but once you have it on your nails, it’s more of a normal dark brown. The bottle says it will stay for 7 days and I’ve tried it and have to agree.. At the end of the 7 days, the nail polish does start to fade and is making room for the white of your nail. All in all, quite a strong polish and very easy to apply!

Catrice Limited Edition Nail Polish – Check & Tweed

The limited edition of Check &  Tweed from Catrice was available in stores in September and October of 2014, but I was able to shop it online only this year. It was not used before, so I bought it brand new. The color (C04 Brit Chick) is also a dark brown one but with red and a bit of purple undertones which is a very nice combo to pair with burgundy colored or classy outfits 🙂 Don’t know if it’s due to the age, but the nail polish was disappearing rather quickly (after 4 days) which I’m not used to anymore, so it was a bit of a disappointment. Still the bottle itself it looking very sharp and like the British accent of the checkers.

I’ve bought Catrice nail polish before and the duration of the nail polish has never disappointed me when buying new collections, so will have to keep this in mind and buy them more quickly especially limited editions!

Maybelline Color Show – Disco Ball

For some reason, I keep on discovering new colors within the Color Show collection and this time the color (# 469 Midnight Magic) is more of a dark blue type which is not typically associated with autumn but with the upcoming festivities in mind, this one would make a perfect combo with blue or silver party dresses just to give it that additional edge 🙂 As with the other Color Show nail polishes, the duration is superb and easily gets me through 1 week or so (depending on the number of times I had to do the dishes 😉 )

Maybelline Brow Satin

So another confession related to beauty products… I’ve never paid a lot of attention to filling out my brows or coloring them. I can work with tweezers and am quite firm on making the shape of my brows as I’ve been doing that for years. But when I came across the Brow Satin pencil/brush in color Black Brown, I was quite intrigued and curious to see if this would actually show a difference. Boy, was I in for a surprise when I tried this one for the first time… The result was immediate full brows and a completely different facial expression. The only to be careful with is the application. First drawing one or two thin lines over your brows with the pencil and then using the brush to divide the color even across your brow. The color also matches with my natural color very well, so you barely notice that I’ve applied anything on my brows. This one is definitely a recommendation especially if your brows could use from thickness.

Essence Sheer & Shine Lipstick  + Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipstick

The Matt Matt Matt lipstick (color # 8 It’s A Statement) was mentioned in my previous post as well, but the reason for repeating this particular lipstick is because I really love this one! With autumn comes darker days and to add that bit of edge to some of my outfits, I decided to wear this color more often and it works well. Of course, not with every outfit, because it might be a bit too much if not combined correctly. The mat color usually indicates that it will stay longer, and this is definitely true as mentioned before.

The Sheer & Shine lipstick (color # 16 Legenberry) looks dark when opening the capsule, but on your lips it actually becomes more pink-ish and does have a bit of shine in it. My initial reason for buying it was that the capsule looked very nice (I know… this is not a good reason for buying stuff!). However, the color of the lipstick was also something that attracted my attention as well as the combination with a bit of shine without making it look like lip gloss. Unfortunately, like with most shiny lipsticks, the duration is not that great and after only 3 hours (without drinking too much) the lipstick was almost completely gone.

Garnier Ultra Doux Dry Shampoo – Argan Oil & Cranberry

When it comes to dry shampoos, I’m still in the learning and testing phase where I keep on trying new ones to see if they match my expectations as well as do their job! This one is designed for colored hair or streaks of color, both of which I don’t have but it can never hurt to try. What I’d noticed immediately was that it smelled so nice and that has to do with the cranberry inside. After trying it a couple of times, I would say that this one is definitely better than the one I’d tried before, and does seem to help my hair last for one extra day without washing it, but I’m still not 100% satisfied, so will try others as well in the future. This one, however, will stay in my bathroom cabinets as it does smell good 🙂

That’s all for this month’s favorites. Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know your thoughts on them! Stay tuned for more beauty adventures 😊
